Hockey has been good to us so far. After 3 blogs we’re 6-3 on the year and up +5.5 units. For today’s list of games, there is only one match that intrigues me. I’ll break the game down and give my pick below.
Carolina Hurricanes vs Chicago Blackhawks: The 8-0 Hurricanes head to Chicago to play the Blackhawks on NBC Sports at 8:30pm est. The Hurricanes are 8-0 with an undefeated record while the Blackhawks are 1-9 getting their first win against the Senators in their last matchup. The Blackhawks are also 4-6 on the puck line this season, losing by 2 or more in 6 of their first 10 games. The Blackhawks are a team that seems to be falling apart everywhere. Outside of Patrick Kane maintaining a point-per-game average, everything seems to be falling apart for Chicago. The off-ice issues are some of the worst in hockey history. Their defense is non-existent. Fleury is struggling in the net, and the offense is averaging 2.2 goals a game.
The Hurricanes have been quite the opposite. They are undefeated as mentioned earlier. They also are averaging 4.125 goals per game They have only let up 12 goals this season and are 6-2 on the puck line. They are missing Nino Niederreiter due to a lower-body injury, but the depth of this team is deeper than just one player. Niederreiter has only produced 3 points over 7 games so far.
Because of the stats I am seeing, it is not crazy to expect a 4-1 or 4-2 game tonight. The Blackhawks are letting up 3.8 goals a game while the Hurricanes are letting up 1.5 goals a game. Comparing that to the goals for, it seems like a 4-2 or 4-1 game could easily happen. That is why I am betting the Carolina Hurricanes on the puck line -1.5 at +170. The Hurricanes will get an early lead and never let it go. We won’t even need to rely on an empty netter late to solidify the puck line.
