As the season is starting to really heat up with playoff and award pushes, there is literally money to be made everywhere. With 5 strong plays for today, it’s an exciting time to be a baseball fan and enjoy the September chaos before the playoffs begin; which is just going to be downright electric this year.
One of, if not the most profitable teams in all of baseball the last 4 months has been…….. the DETROIT TIGERS. That’s right! The forgotten sports city looks to finally have some promise for the upcoming years and finishing the season strong will only build confidence for the young group. The Twins have been the most disappointing team in the American League this year (now that the Yankees got hot since the second half began) and with guys leaving at the end of the year this could be a team to auto fade the rest of the way.
The Pick- Tigers ML +105
The next play is one that almost seems like a trap pick and I am fully aware of that. But like a rat going for the cheese, I am charging full speed ahead. The Phillies and Nationals both are throwing out a pair of struggling pitchers in a ballpark where the ball really travels in the summer months. Both pitchers have ERA’s over 6 and neither team’s bullpen is anything to be scared of. Take the over and enjoy the cash.
The Pick- Nationals vs Phillies over 9 -110
The Rockies are one of the most confusing teams in all of baseball. To the casual fan, you look at their record and just assume they are a bad team. This just is not necessarily the case. They have one of the best home records in the league at 43-22, but one of the worst road records at 17-49. Before this weekend they had only won one road series this season before somehow taking 2 of 3 from the Dodgers. I know the Rangers are by no mean a competitive baseball team but even they are close to a .500 team at home.
The Pick- Rangers ML +115
The Yankees have begun a three-game skid after winning 13 in a row. This team has scratched and clawed their way back into playoff contention and would actually be hosting the wildcard game if the season were to end today. With Taillon looking for a bounce-back start against an Angels team that is so unpredictable, I believe he comes out and produces. Angels have scored 39 runs over their last 6 games and that even includes being shut out in one of them. I think this is where they start to cool off.
The Pick- Yankees ML -125
Prop Pick of the day is going to be featuring the Orioles and the Blue Jays. Toronto is amongst the league leaders in the least amount of strikeouts as a team. This team is built on contact and hitting the ball hard. Keegan Akin, the Orioles starting pitcher today, averages less than a strikeout per inning and with an ERA over 7. I think this is going to be a very short outing.
The Pick- Akin under 4.5 strikeouts -130
