Example of a Round Robin Bet Using MLB

Consider you’re interested in placing bets on four MLB teams:

  • Yankees vs. Red Sox
  • Dodgers vs. Giants
  • Cubs vs. Cardinals
  • Mets vs. Phillies

For a round robin involving three-leg parlays, you would generate the following combinations from these four teams:

  • Parlay 1: Yankees, Dodgers, and Cubs
  • Parlay 2: Yankees, Dodgers, and Mets
  • Parlay 3: Yankees, Cubs, and Mets
  • Parlay 4: Dodgers, Cubs, and Mets

This approach ensures that if any three of your selected teams win their respective games, you’ll have a winning parlay.

Setting Up a Three-Leg Parlay Round Robin on FanDuel

To place a three-leg parlay round robin bet on FanDuel, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Your Matches: Begin by selecting the outcomes for the four MLB games you’re interested in. Add these selections to your bet slip by clicking on the odds next to each game.
  2. Select Round Robin: With your four games selected, FanDuel will offer you a variety of betting options, including the round robin. The app automatically calculates all possible three-team parlay combinations from your selections.
  3. Specify Your Stake: You need to decide the stake for each parlay within your round robin. The total investment is the sum of the stakes across all the parlay bets in the round robin.
  4. Review and Place Your Bets: FanDuel will display all your round robin parlays, including the total number of bets and the combined odds. Ensure everything looks correct, then finalize and place your bets.

Advantages of These Bets

  • Increased Chances of Winning: By spreading your bet across multiple three-team combinations, you enhance your chances of hitting at least one winning parlay.
  • Strategic Depth: This betting format allows for strategic decisions on which combinations you believe have the best chance of success.
  • Risk Management: While the potential payout for each parlay is higher, the round robin format helps manage overall risk by not depending on a single outcome.

Step 2: Enter your wager in your bet slip

After selecting your round robin legs, the next step is to enter the amount you want to wager. You can do so by clicking on the bet slip at the bottom of the page and selecting the round robin section at the bottom of the bet slip.

Before you place your bet, keep in mind that the amount entered will be multiplied by type of round robin you bet. In the video above, I selected to bet the three 2-team parlays.

You can create round robin parlays in any combination of individual bets that are possible from your original list of teams. For example, you can place a four-team round robin that includes three-team parlays and two-team parlays.

FanDuel Sportsbook Round Robin FAQ

What is a round robin bet?

A round robin bet is a series of smaller parlays created from a larger list of bets that you choose at a sportsbook. Instead of placing all of the selected bets on a single parlay, a round robin separates those bets into groups of smaller parlays.

What does 2s x3 wagers mean?

A “2s x3 wagers” notation means you’re turning a single three-leg parlay into three two-leg parlays (by using the round robin option). The three-team parlay is separated into every possible combination of two teams (indicated by the “2s” notation), and you play all three possible combination (indicated by the “x3 wagers” notation).

Is a round robin a good bet?

A round robin is a good way to take a bit less risk on a parlay bet, as you can win money even if one of the teams on your original parlay list loses. For instance, a four-leg parlay only hits if all four teams wins. If you turned that parlay into a three-team round robin, you would still get paid on one of your three-leg parlays, even if one of your original four teams loses.

Does every team have to win in a round robin bet?

No, but you only get paid on legs of a round robin where each team in a combination wins. For instance, if you separate a four-leg parlay into a 3s x4 wagers round robin, you’re now playing four separate three-leg parlays. You’ll get paid for each combo in which all three teams win.

How many bets are in a five-team round robin?

You can play a five-team round robin as five 4-leg parlays (4s x5 wagers), ten 3-leg parlays (3s x10 wagers), or ten 2-leg parlays (2s x10 wagers).
