BetMGM offers a variety of betting options to enhance your sports betting experience. One of these options is the round robin bet, a versatile and strategic type of wager. This guide will explain what a round robin bet is and how to place one on BetMGM.
Understanding Round Robin Bets
A round robin bet involves multiple parlays combined into one wager. It allows you to create multiple parlays from a set of selected teams or outcomes. For example, if you choose three teams, a round robin bet will create three two-team parlays. This type of bet provides a higher chance of winning some money even if not all selections are correct.

Benefits of Round Robin Bets
Increased Chances of Winning
Unlike traditional parlays, where all selections must be correct to win, a round robin bet increases your chances of winning by creating multiple parlays. Even if one or more selections lose, you can still win on the other parlays.
Flexibility
Round robin bets offer flexibility in managing risk and reward. You can choose how many teams to include and how many combinations to create, allowing you to tailor the bet to your strategy.
Real NBA Round Robin Example
To better understand how a round robin bet works, consider this NBA example:
- Select Three NBA Teams: Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, and Golden State Warriors.
- Create Two-Team Parlays:
- Parlay 1: Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets
- Parlay 2: Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors
- Parlay 3: Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors
If you place a $10 stake on each parlay, the total stake will be $30. Here’s what could happen:
- If all three teams win, you win all three parlays.
- If only the Lakers and Nets win, you win Parlay 1 but lose Parlays 2 and 3.
- If the Lakers lose, but the Nets and Warriors win, you win Parlay 3 but lose Parlays 1 and 2.
This example shows how round robin bets can increase your chances of winning some money even if not all your selections are correct.
Tips for Placing Round Robin Bets
Research Teams and Outcomes
Before placing a round robin bet, research the teams or outcomes you want to include. Consider factors such as recent performance, injuries, and head-to-head statistics.
Manage Your Bankroll
Round robin bets can involve multiple stakes, so manage your bankroll carefully. Determine how much you are willing to risk and stick to your budget.
Start with Smaller Combinations
If you are new to round robin betting, start with smaller combinations, such as three or four teams. This will help you understand how round robin bets work without risking too much money.
Step 1: Find the events you want to place your Round-Robin on
Once you have the BetMGM Sportsbook App opened and are logged in, the first step is finding the events you want to place a Round-Robin bet on. You can search for the events by scrolling the home screen or using the A-Z Sports Menu.
In this video above, I’ll be creating a round robin with the Hurricanes on the puckline, the Maple Leafs moneyline, and the over in the Wild vs Blues game.
Step 2: Entering your wager
After selecting your round robin legs, the next step is to enter the amount you want to wager. You can do so by entering the amount in the bet slip. Make sure to select the round robins’ section at the top of the screen.
Before you place your bet, keep in mind that the amount entered will be multiplied by 3 for each bet within the round robin
Step 3: Place your bet
The third and final step to placing a Round-Robin bet is pressing the “place bet” button at the bottom of the screen
BetMGM Round Robin FAQ
What is the payout on a round robin bet at BetMGM?
When you select bets for a round robin at BetMGM, the bet slip will show the potential payout of each leg of the round robin. Be sure to carefully observe the payouts of each leg of a round robin before you send the bet through to the sportsbook.
Is a round robin a good bet at a sportsbook?
Round robin bets can yield larger payouts if multiple parlays within the bet are successful. However, the potential payout is not as high as hitting a single large parlay with all selections. You’ll need to weigh the potential for larger but not astronomical payouts against the increased investment.
What happens if one part of a round robin is a push?
For example, let’s say you place a four-team round robin, and one bet pushes. BetMGM will then grade the bet as a three-team round robin.
If a two-leg round robin has one push, the sportsbook will refeund the bet.
